Frequently asked questions

It's our trade-in program to reuse and recycle your old devices in Vodafone stores. If your trade-in phone is eligible for credit, you can use it towards a new one when you buy on an Interest Free term. Otherwise, you can recycle your old phone for free.

Trading in your old phone is simple - just answer a few simple questions about the brand, model and condition of your phone. Using this we'll give you a quote with the estimated trade-in value or an easy way to recycle it.

If you accept the quote by providing your email, we'll send a unique voucher code to your inbox with the credit of your trade-in estimate. As well as, a reminder to back up your device. To complete the trade-in, go to a store with your old phone and unique voucher code. One of our team will inspect it and verify its condition. Once everything checks out, your credit will be confirmed, and it's as simple as choosing a new phone to purchase on an Interest Free term for your trade-in. If the condition of your device doesn't match what you described, a new estimated trade-in value will be provided. You'll have the option to either accept this revised quote or reject it. If you reject it, your device will be returned to you at no charge.

Every phone brand, model and condition will have varying prices, even from week to week. The best way to find it out is to go through our self-evaluation process and see what we're offering.

Using the answers about your phone's brand, model and condition, we compare the (updating) prices in New Zealand and generate your quote based on the best deals we can find.

After we wipe it of any personal data (and switch off any features like Find my iPhone) your old phone will either be refurbished and resold to those who need cheap, good-quality phones. Or, if your old phone is too damaged or outdated, we recycle it for any parts and precious materials.

Aside from the phone you're trading in, you need your unique voucher code ready to show - as either on your phone or written down.

At the moment, you can only complete a trade-in at a store.
